The Allen County Engineer assigns house numbers on all state, county and township roads in the unincorporated areas of the county as well as Fort Shawnee and Lafayette. House numbers are based on a grid system and are assigned to specific driveway entrance locations. House number requests may be taken over the phone. The property must be transferred to your name before a house number will be assigned. We will need a copy of the survey and a measurement from the closest property line. Also, be prepared to give a detailed description of the driveway location including distance to nearest road intersection, house numbers of close neighbors, description of the site and any unique landmarks. There is no fee for this service.
